HOW TO READ YOUR METER

Take the lid off the meter box.  Be sure to replace the lid when finished.

There is a protective cap that goes over the face of the meter.  Raise this cap if it is closed.  Read the numbers on the meter from left to right, including the stationary zero or zeros at the end of the number.

HOW TO CHECK FOR LEAKS

  • Be sure no water is on inside your house.  This includes toilets, ice machines, washing machines, etc.

  • If no water is on check your water meter for any movement of the dial.  When water is passing through the meter, the dial will move in a clockwise direction.  If water is off in your house and the dial moves, you have a water leak.

  • If you determine you have a leak, call a plumber or do the repairs yourself.  The Calhoun County Water Authority is not responsible for the line from the meter to your house.
